P.E.D®’s research indicates that ‘carbohydrate overload’ laminitis and the laminitis associated with metabolic problems may be linked by a common cause; the company is working to investigate why horses become susceptible to laminitis and how it actually starts. P.E.D® has so far helped veterinary clients, horse sanctuaries and horse owners. Sue said, “Metabolic conditions associated with laminitis are life-threatening and commonly seen worldwide. Case Study:
Jasper is a 15 year old shire x TB who developed laminitis in June 2009. By the end of July his soles were paper thin and his pedal bone had come through; he was given a 50/50 chance of survival.
