Ekygard is an ideal solution to help protect the stomach lining against acid attack. Ekygard's complete formula has a global action on your horse's stomach: it protects the gastric mucosa via a coating effect, reduces acidity thanks to a buffer effect and balances the bacterial flora in the digestive system. It also has a soothing and appetite-stimulating effect.
Your horse’s environment can have a direct impact on stomach acidity. Stress, lifestyle (transportation for competition, change of stable, etc.), level of activity and diet are all factors that can increase the amount of acidity in the stomach.

Formula
The Ekygard formula contains the 3 essential ingredients recommended by the European College of Equine Internal Medicine. These are a pectin-lecithin complex, lithothamnion and Yea-Sacc (Saccharamoyces cerevisae), a brewer's yeast. The pectin-lecithin complex forms a gel that protects your horse's stomach lining against acid secretions. Lithothamnion has a buffer effect, meaning that it reduces the acidity in your horse's stomach. Yea-Sacc (Saccharamoyces cerevisae) is a probiotic that balances the bacterial flora (or microbiota) to aid digestion in the gut. In addition to these 3 essential ingredients, the formula also contains Aloe vera, which has a soothing effect, clay to promote protection of the stomach, and marsh-mallow (Althaea officinalis).
Our advice
EKYGARD is a feed supplement that can be used continuously all year round for your horse, thereby preventing too much stomach acidity. It can also be given occasionally. In this case, plan ahead for gastric acidity peaks related to specific events: transportation, competition, medication, etc. Give EKYGARD for 3 to 4 days before such events and for at least 1 week afterwards.
Ingredients focus.
Ingredient 1: The pectin-lecithin complex is an ingredient scientifically recognised as being able to protect the mucosa of your horse's stomach. The way it works is simple:when it encounters acid in the stomach, it forms a gel that will coat the lining of the stomach, whether in the pylorus, glandular or squamous portions. It thereby creates a barrier to protect the walls of the digestive system against acid.
Ingredient 2: Lithothamnion is a marine algae (seaweed) rich in calcium carbonate and magnesium that helps reduce acidity in the stomach.
Ingredient 3: Alfalfa that has a buffer effect on stomach acidity.
Ingredient 4: Aloe vera that has a soothing effect on sensitive stomachs.
Ingredient 5: Clay promotes protection of the stomach mucosa.
Your questions.
You can use Ekygard if you suspect your horse has too much gastric acidity. Generally speaking, the symptoms are a horse that does not finish all its ration or stops in the middle of a pellet feed. He has a temperamental appetite. He has abdominal cramps after eating. He has difficulty gaining weight and/or has a poor quality coat. He grinds his teeth. He yawns frequently. He eats soil. He is unsettled and puts his ears back when girthing up.He is not responsive to the leg. You don’t need to wait for symptoms of acidity to develop before you act. You can also use Ekygard in a horse with no suspicious symptoms.
Ekygard can be used continuously all year round to provide constant stomach protection. You can use Ekygard during the most stressful periods for your horse: competition season, change of living environment, putting to work, new stable mate, long journey, etc.
Ekygard belongs to the Anti Doping Programme. Therefore you can use it without any risk of your horse testing positive to anti-doping tests during competitions.
