Cavalor Electroliq Balance (Equine)

Cavalor Electroliq/Electrolyte Balance provides the electrolytes needed for optimal recovery after hard workouts. Stress, intensive exercise, hot weather, or transport can cause a horse to dehydrate and lose important minerals.

As the horse’s body can’t store these electrolytes, it is important that they be replenished just before or immediately after a sweaty workout. Cavalor Electrolyte Balance and Cavalor Electroliq Balance are formulated to provide the right amounts of minerals for easy absorption.

The electrolytes in Cavalor prevent dehydration so that horses stay fresher, recover more quickly and better withstand longer periods of intense training, competition, and transport.

Liquid solution to compensate for electrolyte losses through major physical exertion. Electrolytes (potassium, chloride, sodium), combined with adequate fluid absorption, ensure the optimal function of the fluid exchange of the cells. When the horse sweats heavily during heavy efforts, stress or in high temperatures, a lot of electrolytes are lost. This causes the fluid exchange in the muscle cells to work more slowly, retarding muscle contraction. This may lead to weakness and muscle cramps. After heavy exertion accompanied by severe sweating, it is crucial to restore the electrolyte balance to normal as soon as possible. To obtain optimal recovery of the body after intense exercise, it is advisable to feed the electrolytes with 1 kg easily digestible grains within an hour after completion of the performance. The horse must always have fresh water available. The advantage of Cavalor Electroliq Balance is the delicious taste, which ensures that the electrolytes are easily accepted by the horse. The liquid form is a practical alternative to other supplements, which are mostly in powder form. The liquid form allows for equal distribution of the product across the feed, ensuring that nothing is lost or remains behind at the bottom of the manger.

Tip: Use Cavalor Electroliq Balance especially during hot days, after heavy training or during extended transportation. For horses that drink less after transport to a different stable or location due to a different taste in the water, the addition of Electroliq Balance to their drinking water may offer a solution. It is however advisable to first check whether the horse will drink enough with the addition of Electroliq Balance at home. During competitions you may use Cavalor Energy Booster (paste in tubes), containing electrolytes as well as additional B-vitamins and amino acids. Cavalor Electroliq Balance contains sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, fructose and dextrose. Current research has shown that the horse may benefit from the presence of fructose. Fructose may promote the absorption and mobilization of electrolytes. An apple flavor that horses find delicious is also added to stimulate appetite.

Is there a difference between a liquid electrolyte supplement and a powder electrolyte supplement? No, but some horse owners find it more practical to choose a liquid electrolyte over a powder form.

Why should I choose a formulated electrolyte mixture over a regular salt block? A balanced electrolyte mixture contains an array of electrolytes and nutrients that compensate for electrolyte loss during heavy exercise. A regular salt block replaces sodium and chloride losses only.

Should I use Electrolytes before or after exercise? In contrast to many nutrients, there are no body stores of water and electrolytes other than those carried in the gastrointestinal tract. Any excess absorbed is excreted in the urine. You can give electrolytes 1 to max 1,5h before the competition. You have to give electrolytes after the horse has made some physical effort. However, deficiencies can be prevented by replacing them as they are lost (during and after exercise). While there is no benefit to supplementing electrolytes more than 2h prior to competition.

Is there a risk of electrolyte overdose when combining Cavalor An Energy Boost with Cavalor Electrolyte Balance or Cavalor Electroliq Balance? It is safe to combine Cavalor An Energy Boost with Cavalor Electrolyte Balance or Cavalor Electroliq Balance. The body cannot store electrolytes and the excess will be excreted from the body through urine. Make sure that your horse has access to fresh water at all times when supplementing with electrolytes. Excessive supplementation is not recommended as it may effect metabolic function.

How and when do I need to use electrolytes? Electrolytes contain minerals lost during sweating. Electrolyte supplements should be administered depending on how much your horse sweats. Self-mixing electrolytes are not as effective as a professionally formulated mixture because the balance of different minerals as well as the source of these minerals and the quality of their absorption is key.

Cavalor Electroliq/Electrolyte Balance contains isotonic and isoelectric mineral salts. Isotonic and isoelectric products provide passive transport of electrolytes without requiring much energy from the body.

Each mineral is essential for numerous metabolic functions. Cavalor Electroliq Balance also tastes delicious for quick and easy electrolyte absorption. It also comes in a new, practical liquid form, in contrast to other products that are usually in powder form.

This liquid form makes it possible for it to be spread evenly over the feed so that nothing is left uneaten.

Cavalor® Electroliq/Electrolyte Balance contains isotonic and isoelectric mineral salts. Isotonic and isoelectric solutions allow for passive transport of the electrolytes, costing the body very little energy. Each mineral is essential for proper functioning of many different metabolic processes:

  • Sodium is important in transporting fluids through the body. It is crucial in allowing the muscles to function well and for synaptic transmission, which is also potassium’s most important role. Too much sodium can impact potassium absorption. That is why after sweating, it is important not only to provide your horse with salt, but to always use an electrolyte mix that also contains potassium.
  • Of all the electrolytes, chloride has the strongest presence in the sweat. Chloride balances the blood pH and plays an important role in the production of gastric acid.
  • Magnesium in its turn relaxes the muscles and helps support optimal functioning of the nervous system.
  • Calcium is also needed for proper muscle function and to pass on signals to the nerves. In addition, calcium contributes to sturdy bones, teeth and skin and plays a role in blood clotting, hormone metabolism and the supply of energy to the body’s cells.
  • In addition to these minerals, the electrolytes also contain dextrose, fructose and citric acid. Dextrose encourages the absorption of Na+ and Cl- and fructose that of K+. Moreover, fructose increases palatability. Citric acid facilitates the body’s absorption of electrolytes as well.
  • Sodium bicarbonate and sodium phosphate act as buffers. They maintain the acid-base balance and increase the muscles’ buffering to help neutralise lactic acid, combating stiff and tired muscles. Both products also have an enticing apple aroma to appeal to your horse, ensuring easy administration.

The advantage of Cavalor® Electroliq Balance is that it tastes so delicious that the horse will eagerly consume the electrolytes.
The product’s liquid form is a practical alternative to the usual powder supplements. The liquidity allows for homogenous distribution over the feed, meaning nothing is lost or left behind in the feed bin.
