Cavalor Hoof Aid is a nutritional tool to maintain proper hoof quality and to strengthen the hooves. Preventively, Cavalor Hoof Aid is given to horses that tend to suffer from moderate problems of diminished or poor hoof quality. For horses with very bad hoof quality we recommend Cavalor Hoof Aid Special. Due to its unique composition, Cavalor Hoof Aid is remarkable for its relatively fast and above all lasting results. Apart from high-grade biotin, vitamin A, vitamin D3 and zinc have been added (which are important for regular growth and the structure of the hooves). The product also contains the amino acid methionine, which plays an important role in processes related to hoof growth.

Biotin; all a hoof needs? Biotin, also known as Vitamin H or Vitamin B8, is an essential, water-soluble B vitamin often given as a supplement to horses with weak hooves. There are only a few studies examining the effects of biotin on horses, with inconclusive results. In practice, however, the numbers of horses with visibly improved hooves after biotin supplementation cannot be denied.

Biotin is naturally present in grass among other things, and Cavalor® feeds are also enriched with biotin to encourage healthy hoof growth. In addition, some bacteria in the colon are capable of producing biotin. Exactly how much biotin a horse requires is unknown, but an unbalanced diet can lead to deficiencies. Practical experience has shown that at least 25-30 mg biotin per day is necessary to create a noticeable effect.

Cavalor® Hoof Aid combines bio-available biotin with high doses of Vitamins A and D3. Vitamin A supports the development of the hoof wall. Coronary band inflammation is linked to a lack of Vitamin A. Vitamin D3 plays an important role in the metabolism and development of the hoof tissue as well.

Scientific research has shown that a combination of different ingredients is more effective than biotin alone. Cavalor® Hoof Aid also contains zinc. Zinc helps with keratin synthesis, which ensures strong, sturdy hooves. Furthermore, zinc supports the reproduction and repair of cells in the hoof and hoof wall. Cavalor® Hoof Aid also contains calcium carbonate. Calcium is instrumental in the synthesis of sulphur bridges between the proteins in the hoof wall. Finally, methionine is an essential sulphurous amino acid that contributes to hoof flexibility.

Should I supplement biotin to improve hoof quality? Biotin is an essential nutrient for hoof growth and quality. However, other nutrients like methionine, copper, sulfur, calcium and vitamin A are also important nutrients for maintaining hoof growth and quality. Cavalor hoof supplements provides abroad spectrum of nutritional tools for maintaining hoof growth and quality.

What is the difference between Cavalor Hoof Aid and Cavalor Hoof Aid Special? Cavalor Hoof Aid Special was developed to strengthen the hooves and promote hoof growth. In cases of severe hoof quality problems, it is recommended to use Cavalor Hoof Aid Special supplement. Cavalor Hoof Aid can be used as a maintenance supplement when the hooves are restored.

Why is there more biotin in Cavalor Hoof Aid, than in Cavalor Hoof Aid Special? The daily amount of biotin is exactly the same in both products. The daily dose for Cavalor Hoof Aid is 30 grams per day (the biotin concentration is much higher) and the dose for Cavalor Hoof Aid Special is 135 grams per day.

Cavalor Hoof Aid combines highly available biotin with high amounts of vitamins A and D3. Vitamin A promotes hoof wall development. Coronet inflammations are linked to vitamin A deficiency.

Vitamin D3 plays an important role in metabolism and hoof tissue development. Cavalor Hoof Aid also contains zinc, calcium carbonate, and methionine. Zinc aids in the synthesis of keratin to promote strong, sturdy hooves.

Zinc also supports the building and repair of tissue cells in the hoof and hoof wall. Calcium plays a role in the synthesis of disulfides – these bridge proteins in the hoof wall.

Methionine is an essential, sulphur-containing amino acid that supports hoof flexibility.
