Q) How do I do a patch test?

A) We recommend that you test Skin Soother on a small area of skin on the neck around the size of two pence piece.  Check the area for any signs of an adverse reaction, ie. swelling or irritation and wash off immediately with warm water if necessary.  Leave for 48 hours before continuing.

Q) Do I need to wear gloves to apply Skin Soother?

A) No you do not need to wear gloves to apply Skin Soother on your horse. It is made with natural ingredients Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Spearmint and Calendula.

Q) How much do I need to use?

A) You only need to use a small amount which can then be spread across the affected area with each application.

Q) How long will a 200ml tube of Skin Soother last when used regularly?

A) A little goes a long way with Skin Soother. Depending on how many horses you are using it on and how often you apply it, one tube can last a few months.

Q) How do I need to store Skin Soother?

A) There are no special storage instructions for Skin Soother however we would recommend keeping the lid closed and stored in a cool dry area. Do not store in direct sunlight.

Q) How long can Skin Soother be stored or kept for?

A) Skin Soother should be used within 12 months after opening. See notes on how to store above.

Q) How often should I use Skin Soother?

A) Apply at least once a day or more often as required to provide relief.

Q) How long before I should see a difference?

A) Depending on the ailment or condition, some people have seen Skin Soother provide relief immediately, while others have noticed a gradual change over a number of days.

Q) What conditions is Skin Soother suitable to use on?

A) Horses that:

A) While Skin Soother has not been tested for use on humans, some horse owners have reported softer skin on their hands after applying the gel to their horse.

Q) Can I use Skin Soother on other animals?

A) Yes Skin Soother can be used other animals, ie dogs, cats, rabbits, sheep.

Q) Can I use the same tube of Skin Soother on multiple horses and conditions?

A) Due to its design, the same tube of Skin Soother can be used for multiple horses and conditions, however we recommend washing your hands or using different gloves between horses and conditions, to prevent cross contaminate.

Q) What happens if my horse licks the applied area?

A) The Spearmint in Skin Soother can be appealing to horses. The ingredients are not toxic but you may have to reapply Skin Soother to the affected area

Q) Is Skin Soother safe to use on competition horses?

A) Skin Soother contains no prohibited substances listed by the FEI.

Q) Skin Soother contains Limonene – what is this?

A) Limonene is a naturally occurring compound found within spearmint oil. A very small handful of people can have an allergic reaction to this compound.

Q) What do I do if my horse has a reaction to Skin Soother?

A) If your horse has a reaction, wash the affected area with plenty of warm water and discontinue use immediately

A) If you have a reaction, wash the affected area with plenty of warm water and discontinue use immediately. If Skin Soother is still benefiting your horse, you might want to consider using gloves to apply it.

Squeeze a small amount onto clean fingertips and gently massage into the roots of the hairs, so that the gel is in contact with the skin. Apply at least once a day or more often as required to provide relief.
