Fenugreek seeds can help to stimulate the appetite of picky eaters and is a very popular flavour for horses. These seeds have traditionally been used to maintain/gain condition. If you really struggle to get your horse to eat their feed, take a look at Fussy Feeder.
A culinary herb often used in curries, Fenugreek seeds can be added to the feed to help stimulate a poor appetite or for picky eaters as they are very palatable, especially when used with mint. The seeds are also a source of protein and fat so can be helpful to improve body condition.
Fenugreek has been found to be a flavour preferred by horses. Fenugreek seeds are stated to possess mucilaginous, demulcent and nutritive properties, and have traditionally been used to soothe gastric ulcers and digestive upset, and during convalescence to improve eating and condition. Fenugreek seeds can also be used as a poultice for superficial, uncomplicated wounds once the seeds are boiled with water, cooled, and made into a thick paste.
Following parturition, Fenugreek seeds can be fed as a supplement to mares to stimulate milk flow but should not be fed to pregnant mares due to their uterine stimulating properties.

| Instructions for use | Up to 400kg (Under 14hh) - ½ scoop Over 400kg (Over 14hh) - 1 scoop 1 level scoop of Fenugreek Seeds weighs approx 38g/1.3oz. Do not give to pregnant mares due to the uterine stimulating effects of this herb. Feed supplements should be fed according to body weight; height has been given as a guide. Introduce to the horse's diet gradually, splitting between feeds (when applicable). Fenugreek is a complementary feeding stuff for equine animals. Feedmark uses nothing in the formulation of this product that contravenes competition rules. |
