Suitable for use in Organic Farming Systems: Barrier D Sheep Dip falls into the exempt category of products which use only plant oils as active ingredients, as listed in Annexe IIB (Pesticides) of Council Regulation (EEC) No 2092/91 (as amended) and can therefore be used in organic farming systems. It is an excellent repellent for all known ecto-parasites, particularly lice and ticks, but extra care must be taken as it will not stand up to scouring, footrot, injury or torrential rain and continued wet weather. It is recommended that each animal has at least three weeks wool growth so that the product can be well absorbed into the fleece. There is NO meat withdrawal period. Sheep due for slaughter can therefore be dipped at any time Barrier D will not stand up to very dirty fleeces, scouring or foot rot. We suggest that you trim their back ends prior to dipping and use our other sheep products as a back up control.

Instructions for use Dilute 1 part product to 100 parts water. The top-up rate is the same dilution 1:100. Ensure that the bath is very well mixed.

Ideal Conditions For Bathing: Each animal must have at least three weeks wool growth so that Barrier D can be well absorbed and hold into the fleece.
Bath the sheep in dry weather and allow them to dry off naturally.
Do not bath the sheep in wet weather conditions or if they are very dirty, heated, recently fed, tired or thirsty.
Making Up The Bath: The dipping tanks must be thoroughly cleaned. All traces of chemical treatments previously used must be removed, because Barrier D is made from entirely natural ingredients and may be rendered ineffective if it comes into contact with any chemical treatment.
Make up the bath solution just prior to use. Dilute 1:100, so 1x5L container will make up 1000 litres of bath - enough for a 200 gallon tank. Don't forget to allow a further 1 x 5L for topping up the tank.
Care must be taken to ensure there is no bacteria build-up. Stabilisers must be considered if bathing is to be carried out over more than one day in warmer/hot conditions.
Bathing The Sheep: Thoroughly stir the bath. Follow standard dipping technique. Lower the sheep in tail end first. Ensure the sheep stay in for at least a minute, and use a crutch to duck the head under. Allow the sheep to dry naturally in dry preferably sunny conditions.
Sheep Showers: Barrier D Sheep Dip is NOT recommended for use in sheep showers. Only by total immersion for at least a minute can you ensure full coverage necessary to be effective.
