Frequently Asked Questions

When should I use the Furminator Grooming Rake?

Your pet can be brushed any time, on both wet and dry fur. Brushing can be performed on its own or in conjunction with other products. Brushing is also an important step to perform before using a Furminator DeShedding Tool on your pet to remove tangles and small mats. The grooming rake is ideal for pets with thick fur and double coats, as the rotating teeth detangle dense fur with minimized tugging.

How often and how log should I use the Furminator Grooming Rake?

For best results, use the FURminator® Grooming Rake for 5-10 minutes each session, though the actual time will vary depending on your pet’s breed, the condition of their coat, and the thickness of the pet’s individual coat. It may be necessary to use the grooming rake tool more frequently during heavy shedding seasons or if the pet has excessive tangles or mats.

Where should I perform the grooming process?

Grooming your pet will loosen large amounts of loose hair and debris, so a location that is easy to clean, such as a tile floor indoors or an outdoor area, makes clean-up more convenient. Most importantly, always choose a location where your pet feels comfortable and safe.

Instructions for use Please read all instructions and FAQs carefully before beginning your grooming. Use the FURminator® Grooming Rake only as directed.

STEP 1
To groom your pet, find a calm time and location to sit down with your pet. Gently stroke across the pet’s coat in the direction of hair growth. Start from your pet’s head and work your way back, using extra care near stomach, legs, genitals and anus. Avoid making excessive strokes in a single area, as this may cause irritation of your pet's fur and skin. Brush until all tangles and mats are removed from the pet’s fur.

STEP 2
Grooming is a good time to perform a complete physical inspection of your pet. As you brush your pet, look for sores, bruises and skin conditions, which your pet's coat may conceal. If your dog has any of these conditions, seek treatment from a veterinarian before resuming brushing.
