What is TurmerItch™?

A skin and coat supplement that is absorbed into the blood stream rather than applied topically. The active ingredients in TurmerItch™ support biting insect repulsion and help maintain reduced sensitivity which was demonstrated during trials with the supplement over a 12-month period.

What is Sweet Itch in horses?
Sweet itch in horses is caused by the bites of female biting midges.

Sweet itch in horses is caused by an allergic reaction to the protein in the saliva of these female biting midges. This causes the immune system to attack its own cells and leads to the extreme reaction.

Using TurmerItch™  as part of sweet itch management is a new approach which proved to be very effective in trials. By introducing this dietary system that can help optimise digestive health, the microbiome and gut integrity, the allergenic contribution to the itch threshold is reduced; subsequent challenges from biting insects may then fall below the threshold, thus reducing scratching and damage to the coat and skin.

TurmerItch™ combines key specialist ingredients including Neem, Red Bush Tea and Chamomile, to help provide relief from itching and soothe the skin by promoting a healthy skin and coat. TurmerItch™ also contains Turmeric and Cooked Linseed to help produce a high shine to the horse’s coat.

Key Ingredients

• Neem Powder - We have included Neem Powder as it supports the immune system and keeps away insects
• Red Bush Tea - It is rich in antioxidants and helps dry, itchy and irritated skin.
• Chamomile Powder - Due to its calming qualities it helps to calm nerves and reduce stress
• Milk Thistle Seed - Supports the liver and skin health
• Turmeric Powder - We believe in the whole root rather than just an extract as turmeric is made up of over 200+ compounds that synergistically work together. Our curcumin levels will never be lower than 5.1%. We source from Indonesia rather than India due to quantities of lead being found in some sources of Indian grown turmeric.
• Salt - Salt is included in this formula as it contains many of the valuable minerals your horse needs to promote a healthy balance in the body
• Apple Cider Vinegar - Our apple cider vinegar is complete with “the mother”. We use this unfiltered version as it keeps the beneficial bacteria, yeast and protein. It is ripe with B-vitamins and polyphenols (plant-based antioxidants) and includes compounds such as quercetin which can help with absorption and bioavailability. It is also essential for good health and increases palatability 
• Cooked Linseed - Sourced from the UK, we use 100% whole linseed that has been cooked and micronized to provide the highest quality and to optimise digestibility and bioavailability of its nutrients. Linseed is high in oil, ideal to help with absorption of curcumin and is also rich in omegas 3, 6 and 9, and has natural antioxidant properties. It helps to maintain a healthy and shiny coat
• Grass Nuts - 100% chopped dried grass, cut, and processed to preserve the maximum levels of natural nutrients
• Diamond V - Sourced from the states, it works naturally with the biology of the animal to help maintain immune strength, support digestive tissue integrity, and promotes a healthy microbial balance.
• Beetroot - Contains a range of antioxidants and natural colourants. Generally, a big proportion of the equines diet is grass which is very green containing few types of antioxidants. 

Because of domestication the modern-day horse is accustomed to lush, managed paddocks, compared to the wild where they would have foraged on shrubs, herbs and other plant material offering a wider antioxidant profile. This is why it is important to include antioxidants alongside vitamins and minerals for a balanced diet.

You may not need to, but TurmerItch can be fed alongside most supplements, we would advise to check with your vet if you had any concerns.
