Slippery Elm bark is rich in mucilage, which becomes a gel when it comes in contact with liquids. This helps to coat and line the gastro-intestinal tract. It also helps to promote a healthy balance of bacteria within the hind gut. Slippery Elm is useful for those with urinary problems, and can be used externally as a poultice.
