Understanding safety accreditation and labels for competition horses.

All our listed products have the relevant safety information displayed as declared by the manufacturer

The British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) has two assurance schemes designed to reduce the risk of naturally occurring prohibited substances (NOPS) in equine feeds.

The Universal Feed Assurance Scheme (UFAS), Naturally Occurring Prohibited Substances (NOPS) Code is designed for manufacturers of compound feeds, and the Feed materials Assurance Scheme (FEMAS) NOPS Code is a sister scheme designed for raw material and straights providers. Both UFAS and FEMAS together with the NOPS components are administered by the AIC (Agricultural Industries Confederation). Companies are audited through the AIC schemes as well as being bound by additional requirements run by BETA as part of the BETA UFAS NOPS code.

Feeds and supplements conforming to the codes will carry logos to reassure owners and trainers of the stringent quality management procedures that have been undertaken by manufacturers.

The Anti-Doping Programme (ADP). Products carrying their blue logo guarantees that the formula for the batch does not contain any substances likely to lead to a positive result in a test, and screening for the presence of natural doping contaminants has been carried out by Laboratoire des Courses Hippiques (LCH). Each batch of nutritional products bearing the ADP logo has therefore been tested. The products are also taste-tested regularly, and the packaging evaluated to ensure they are to your horse's liking and meet your needs

We have two suitably qualified people, known as SQP's as part of our team at Supplement Solutions. They can prescribe and supply products for equine and companion animals.

These products do not contain prohibited substances and are deemed safe for use in competition by their manufacturer but have not been tested by independent accreditation.
