Robinsons First Aid Bag
A complete First Aid kit is one of the most essential items every horse owner should own. Accidents and injuries can happen at any moment and if you are not prepared the situation can be made much worse.
Make sure you familiarise yourself with the contents of your first aid kit before an emergency situation arises and always replace the items you use immediately. It is also advisable to write the number of your vet and farrier in a convenient and visible place in your first aid kit so that you, or someone under your instruction, can find it in an emergency.
The Robinsons First Aid Bag contains the following recommended items:
• Animalintex
Animalintex is an all-purpose veterinary poultice and dressing. Used hot, it increases the blood supply to the damaged tissues, drawing out infection or ingrained dirt and encouraging healing. Used cold, it will help to reduce swelling and pain following bruising or a strain. It can also be used dry on a clean open wound.
• Veterinary Gamgee Non-woven
Veterinary Gamgee 12", provides a low adherent wound interface, protection, insulation and absorbency. It can be used as a primary wound dressing or applied over a dressing prior to bandaging to prevent pressure points.
• Skintact
Low adherent, sterile, absorbent wound dressing to help keep wounds free from infection
• Equiwrap Cohesive Bandage
Self-adhering bandages ideal for holding dressings in place. They can also be used over padding to apply pressure in order to stem bleeding.
• Vetalintex Sterile Hydrogel 15g
• Tough Cut Scissors
Special blunt-ended scissors.
• Fastaid Cleansing Wipe
In addition it is recommended that a small container of salt should be included in the kit.
